In 2016, over 5,000 computer science jobs went unfilled in the Austin metro area. At the same time, nearly 60,000 Central Texas high school students from minority or low-income backgrounds lacked access to pursuing the very STEM careers that went unfilled in companies located only a few zip codes away. In this session, attendees will have an opportunity to hear from a panel of local leaders moving the needle on diversity and inclusion in Austin's startup ecosystem, from high school to our current workforce. Listen to individuals and organizations on the frontlines of training, engaging, and recruiting diverse tech talent in Austin, and hear about their insights and experience on creating opportunities for coding education and technical skills recruitment from minority and low-income groups in the region.
